Address where adopted animal(s) will be living
*
What animal(s) are you interested in?
Have you owned reptiles/small mammals in the past? Do you currently own any?
Will you be housing this animal in the same enclosure as another animal?
Are you familiar with the care/diet/husbandry required for the animal you are applying for? Please describe where/how you will house this new animal, what you will feed them, and what type of enrichment/care you will be able to provide. Please feel free to ask for any recommendations or information.
Does anyone in your family have allergies to animals or bedding/hay products?
Please provide a veterinary reference (if this is your first exotic companion, we can recommend an appropriate vet for the type of animal you are adopting).
Please provide at least 1 personal reference, contact info included. (neighbor/friend/family member outside of immediate family).
Do you plan on utilizing this animal for breeding purposes?
Working with exotics can be exciting but requires safety measures that take different considerations than dogs and cats. We require to see the animal enclosure you have set up and plan on using for the animal you are interested in adopting. We will reach out if your application is approved, and ask to see your final set-up. This may be done by either in-person visitation, video call, or submitting photos, depending on the caretaking severity of the animal. This is a safety precaution, for both you and the animal! We want to ensure we can help in any possible way with integration for everyone involved. By initialing below, you understand one of these safety precautions may be an option, and are welcome to it.
Do you consent to us texting/calling/emailing to follow up after adoption?
ADOPTION GUIDELINES
By applying for one of our animals, you agree to the following as part of the application process:
Provide truthful and accurate information, provide most up to date information regarding current animals, past animals, and living situations.
Understand that mammals and reptiles may require veterinary care; such as: wellness exams, preventative care/illness/injuries, dental issues etc. They can be both a financial and emotional commitment, just like a dog or cat.
Once approved for a specific animal, you must submit images/videos of what type of housing/husbandry you will provide for your new companion animal before you are fully approved for a new scaly/furry friend. If you need housing/husbandry/diet recommendations, please ask!
Understand that Wild Exotics Animal Refuge is not liable for any damages/financial responsibility once an animal is adopted. If you must rehome your adopted animal for any reason, the rescue should be notified, and we will be more than willing to take the animal back if you find yourself no longer to care for them.
Agree that your adopted companion will be kept INDOORS only and will not be left alone, outside of the enclosure, unsupervised.
An adoption contribution will be suggested at the time of adoption. This amount is dependent on the species of animal you are adopting and the medical treatment that was performed while the animal was in rescue.
Wild Exotics Animal Refuge has the right to refuse any adoptions that we do not see fit. We strive to do the best thing by the animals, including finding the best fitting adopters.
