Rescued Stories: Humane Education Book Program
Rescued Stories is a humane education initiative by Wild Exotics Animal Refuge that provides children with age-appropriate animal books in a way that is intentional, engaging, and waste-free.
Books are pre-loved and rescued (rescued - just like the animals we help!). The selected book may be fiction or non-fiction. Each book is selected at random based on the child’s age and is paired with a small act of participation to ensure the story is meaningful and used.
This program is open to families, guardians, and caregivers who are willing to involve children directly in the process.
How It Works
A parent or guardian completes the request form below.
Please have your child create a drawing based on this prompt:
“What do you think animal rescue looks like? Draw it!”
A parent or guardian emails the drawing to us, at wearsaves@gmail.com. Please include the first name of your child and “Rescued Stories’ in the subject of your email. This helps us locate and match your submission faster.
Once both steps are completed, an age-appropriate animal book is mailed, free of charge. Please allow us 5-7 business days to select and ship your book. Only one book per completed submission.
*To ensure books are meaningful and not wasted, books are only sent after a child’s drawing is received. No customization. No swaps. No exceptions.
